St Cuthbert’s Church, Pateley Bridge is open every day from 9am to 6pm.
If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, to sit, to light a candle, to say a prayer, or to write a message and hang it on the Prayer Tree, please know that the door is open. This is a space for reflection, for grief, for stillness.
You are not alone.
Our community is grieving.
In the stillness of St Cuthbert’s, the people of Nidderdale have lit candles, small lights in the darkness, each one a prayer, a memory, a mark of love.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Bailey Chadwick whose life was so tragically cut short, and with all who are struggling to make sense of what has happened.
May the light of Christ shine in the darkness and may love hold us together.
If you would like someone to talk to, someone to sit with you or pray with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
You can contact Revd Darryl Hall on 07792 419982.
Additional Support
We are currently working with Just ‘B’, a bereavement support service from St Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate.
They are offering to provide a safe, confidential space in Pateley Bridge where anyone can come and talk (either one-to-one or in a small group) about how they are feeling. This support is open to anyone affected by the recent tragedy or any personal loss that this may have brought to the surface.
If you feel this would be helpful to you or someone you know, please get in touch with Darryl or look out for updates via social media.
You can also contact Just ‘B’ directly via:
- Telephone: 01423 856 790
- Email: info@justb.org.uk

Ripon Cathedral runs a 7-week course called The Bereavement Journey. The next course starts 24th September 2025. See the poster for more details.
