Welcome

Welcome. Wherever you are and whatever denomination you are I want you to feel as though this is your parish and these are your churches to worship in. My name is Darryl and I am the Vicar of Upper Nidderdale in the Church of England. We have six churches in the parish, all very different from one another. St Mary’s, Greenhow Hill is amongst the highest altitude churches in the country, Bewerley Grange Chapel is the last remaining Grange of Fountains Abbey which is still used to this day with adjoining chapel which the Abbott of Fountains Abbey, Marmaduke Huby, used to stay in on his visits to Nidderdale. This is a truly inspirational place to worship, one second you are passing by rolling hills, the next you are on top of them looking at the amazing vistas and then you could be driving alongside Gouthwaite Resevoir and the welcome of the Dales folk is legendary.

Many people want to get married in our beautiful churches with the stunning views that they afford and many more come to us for baptisms. If this applies to you then please telephone me so that we can discuss this further.

Our worship is wide and varied from the Book of Common Prayer (1662), to Common Worship, to Celtic Communion, two of our churches have a choir.

There’s always quite a lot going on and there’s always room for more people to join us so we hope we might see you soon.
